San Antonio’s Becky Hammon wins All-Star MVP award

You can’t say San Antonio G Becky Hammon isn’t earning her money. She starred in Sunday’s All-Star game for Europe, leading that roster to a 101-78 victory over “The Rest of the World.” Hammon, who led Russia to a bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics, used that passport to play for the European team even though she’s American. She finished with 24 points.
Spartak Moscow star Sylvia Fowles (Chicago) dunked off a stolen Hammon pass to add flare in the second half of the game in Paris. She finished with 10 points, three boards, and three steals. According to some loosely translated reports, she replaced Lauren Jackson in the game because the Australian couldn’t get to Paris due to sickness. Phoenix star Diana Taurasi also did not play, although voted a starter.
Fowles will rejoin her Russian teammates Sue Bird, Taurasi and Jackson in the EuroLeague Final Four to be played April 3-5 in Spain.
Oh, you can checkout Fowles’ dunk below:
