LA to announce Tina Thompson signing on Thursday

It’s been rumored all offseason and finally made official with a news advisory release stating the Los Angeles Sparks have signed a major player. According to sources, that player to be announced Thursday is former Houston forward Tina Thompson.
It’s a reunion of sorts, since Thompson and center Lisa Leslie won a Pac-10 championship together at Southern California in 1993-94. The duo have also won Olympic gold together.
Thompson also is a native of California, attending Morningside High in Inglewood.
Now that Thompson is signed, the last remaining high-profile free agent is power forward Lauren Jackson. Her agent said last week that she is not prepared for any announcements regarding her WNBA future.
