Washington’s season ends with loss to California

Husky.jpgIn the Pac-10 quarterfinals, tenth-seeded Washington lost to No. 2 California 61-41 today in Los Angeles. The Huskies finished their season at 8-22, which ties for the worst record in school history. The Dawgs already set the worst regular-season conference mark, only winning three Pac-10 games.
It was good to hear that freshman forward Liz Lay returned to action after not dressing for the opener due to sprained knee. But the Golden Bears nullified leading scorer Sami Whitcomb, who was scoreless for the first time this season.
As for coach Tia Jackson, she was confident that she’ll return for a third season despite a 21-40 record.
“I’ll go down saying this: We will not be a 10 seed again,” she told reporters at the tournament.
