Update on Detroit Shock ownership

Davidson.jpgIt’s an odd year for Detroit. My family roots are there and while sports pages across America talk about the road to Motown, the city is hardly the once gleaming light that produced so much memorable music.
Aside from the winless Lions, I just read an article about homes going for $10,000, a member of my family seems to be laid-off daily, and Bill Davidson, who has owned the Pistons since 1974, died this weekend. Not good times. But it was good to reflect on Davidson’s life and to know that his new wife plans to help keep the NBA and WNBA Shock in the family. (Davidson is pictured right in a 1999 file photo by the Associated Press)
I was in Detroit when the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl there and although I have never seen that many white people (Pittsburgh fans) downtown before, it was good for the city. Hopefully the Final Four making its way there is the same.
