Former Storm guard Betty Lennox to LA?

LennoxPic.jpgThe 13th annual WNBA draft just concluded and while Connecticut PG Renee Montgomery dropping to No. 4 to Minnesota was a surprise, the real news came when Los Angeles general manager Penny Toler said she wanted to get SG Betty Lennox signed by next week.
The Sparks drafted numerous posts in the draft, including Oklahoma forward Ashley Paris, and are already post-laden with free agent pick-up Tina Thompson, Lisa Leslie, DeLisha Milton-Jones, and MVP Candace Parker.. Toler said trades would have to be worked out in order to complete a Lennox deal.
“Betty is a dynamic and explosive player,” Toler told ESPN analysts. “She’s another player that has won a championship. She’s a winner. Yes, we are definitely going after her.”
Lennox was waived by expansion Atlanta during the offseason. She won a title with the Storm in 2004 and was named Finals MVP.
When reached by telephone this afternoon, Lennox would only say, “I’m still unemployed.”
She’s on break from play in Russia. Lennox, 32, was suspended for two games after an altercation and has a return ticket for April 15, but may rest at home for the WNBA season.
