Storm plans another Green Lake event

StormGreenLake.jpgIf you’re new to Seattle or ever visit during the summer, bolt to Green Lake the minute the sun shines. It was voted one of the best “people watching” places in the city and you’ll definietly see a bit of everything the minute you step out of your car.
That’s what makes the “Storm’ the Lake” events there so much fun. People who know nothing about sports, let alone the Storm, wander over to see what’s going down. The team plans to hold the annual fair on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. Fans can meet the players and coaches, purchase tickets and usually take a loop around the lake with the team. With sunny skies expected, it should be tons of fun.

Official 10th Anniversary Storm Fan Fest at Green Lake from 2-4 p.m.

SEATTLE, Thursday, May 21, 2009 – The Seattle Storm today announced that “Stormin’ the Lake” – the Storm’s Official Fan Fest for the Storm’s 10th Anniversary season – will take place from 2-4 p.m. this Saturday, May 23 at Seattle’s Green Lake Park. Fans will have the opportunity to interact with Storm coaches and players from the 2009 roster and participate in activities including face-painting, Storm locker room sign-creating, snow-cone making, water balloon toss games, shooting hoops on the Storm court and learning dance moves from the Storm Dance Troupe.
The festivities are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on the Green Lake Community Center outdoor basketball courts, with the players and coaches scheduled to arrive at 3 p.m. This is the third year the Storm has held a preseason Fan Fest at Green Lake, and the event is free and open to the public.
The Storm will tip off its 2009 10th Anniversary home campaign at KeyArena on Sunday, June 7 vs. the Sacramento Monarchs. Single-game tickets start as low as $14, and can be purchased by visiting, by calling 1-877-WNBA-TIX, or in person at any Ticketmaster retail location.
The team invites fans of all ages to a series of special-event games, featuring themed entertainment, activities, giveaways and offers. The Storm’s 2009 theme night schedule includes Dads & Daughters Night on Friday, June 19; Kids Day on Tuesday, July 7; Go Green Night on Thursday, July 9; Women of Inspiration Night on Saturday, Aug. 1 and Back to School Night on Saturday, Aug. 29.
