Notes from Storm practice

SeattleStorm.pngStorm G Shannon Johnson didn’t practice on Tuesday due to her sprained left knee. She’s treating the knee and able to play, but coach Brian Agler wanted to rest her for the session to be sure she’s ready for Friday’s game against Minnesota at KeyArena.
Actually, Agler’s goal this week is to make sure everyone is ready for the weekend swing against Minnesota and Phoenix on the road. The Storm then returns to play Los Angeles in a home-and-home set and Phoenix again.
In practice, Agler is working on rebounding and getting recent arrival Suzy Batkovic-Brown acclimated.
A side note on Batkovic-Brown, she’s not in a rush to have children as the Australian newspapers printed. I spoke with her about this and, while she does want to be a mother, she wants to play basketball now. She signed a one-year contract and is leaving the door open to return next summer.
Batkovic-Brown also enjoys playing overseas still and could contend for a spot on the 2012 Olympic team. Plus, her husband has a job where he travels a lot, so the timing isn’t right. He’ll be in Seattle for a visit in July.
“That’s the Australian media turning things around,” Batkovic-Brown said of the article.
