Storm drafts another Australian

Storm coach Brian Agler, who’s also the team’s director of player personnel, selected Iowa State PG Alison Lacey with his 10th overall pick. Lacey is 6-foot and originally hails from Canberra, Australia where Storm teammate Lauren Jackson plays professionally, winning a WNBL title.
Jackson, captain of the Australian national team, was selected No. 1 overall by former coach Lin Dunn in 2001.
Lacey could help the Storm fill a void missing since 2005 when Aussie Tully Bevilaqua walked away from the franchise to play as a starter for Indiana. Since her departure, which followed Seattle’s 2004 championship, the Storm has been unable to sustain a quality backup PG either due to injuries or retirement.
The second and third rounds are being selected now on ESPNU. I’ll have more later.
