Storm makes more roster moves

SeattleStorm.pngTraining camp invitee Laura Kurz was cut from the Storm roster on Tuesday. Coach Brian Agler has three more decisions to make by Friday in order to reach the 11-player WNBA limit.
Kurz, whose brother played in the NBA summer league, is a lanky forward with solid skills. But Australian Abby Bishop, who’s 6 foot 3, is a similar build with more talent. That doesn’t mean Bishop is on the team, however.
At 21, she’s inexperienced. The Storm is her first taste of basketball outside of her native country. She could easily be passed over for veteran forwards Svetlana Abrosimova and Jana Vesela or returnee Ashley Walker, who’s entering her second season.
Agler, director of player personnel, said he wants to have the roster close to set when practice resumes Wednesday. While evaluating Abrosimova and Vesela due to their late arrival, he’s mainly turned his attention to preparing for the season-opener against Los Angeles at KeyArena on Sunday.
The Storm was off Tuesday, which is also forward Lauren Jackson’s 29th birthday.
