Former Auburn Riverside star transfers to Seattle University

Redhawks.pngNichole Jackson transferred from Portland State to Seattle University. The former Auburn Riverside High School state champion practiced with the Redhawks on Tuesday, but will not be eligible to play until next season due to NCAA transfer rules.
Jackson, a 5-foot-8 traditional PG, appeared in 27 games as the Vikings made their NCAA tournament push her freshman year. She played in six games, averaging 7.8 minutes this season.
SU coach Joan Bonvicini said Jackson approached her about transferring because the player wanted to be part of what’s being built at the university, which is in its second season transitioning back to D-I. The Redhawks (4-9) are preparing to host their first Holiday Hoops Classic at KeyArena on Wednesday and Thursday. Schools like No. 16 Notre Dame (9-3) highlight the four teams invited to the inaugural format.
“We’re excited,” Bonvicini said of Jackson. “Having another point guard who’s experienced? I’m happy. I’m excited to have the opportunity to coach her.”
