Washington star Kristi Kingma selected to Pac-10 team

NewPac.jpgIn a vote from the 10 conference coaches, Washington SG Kristi Kingma was named to the All-Pac-10 team. The junior from Mill Creek averaged a team-high 15.9 points and 4.9 rebounds this season, playing an average 35.8 minutes.
Teammates Charmaine Barlow, a junior wing, and F Marjorie Heard, a freshman, were named to the honorable mentionable defensive and freshman teams, respectfully.
“We’ve got a fun, collective bunch,” said Washington coach Tia Jackson of the honors. “As much as Kristi was All-Pac-10, and rightfully so, she had teammates that were making her a great player. From a defensive standpoint, Charmaine is able to let loose and do what she does because she’s got support behind her. And Marjorie, in order for her to do her job, she’s got to have support. These are all collective team awards as much as the individuals that are being honored right now.”
Washington (11-16, 6-12 Pac-10) faces California (15-14, 7-11) on Wednesday in the opening round of the conference tournament. The Huskies swept the Golden Bears by an average of 10 points during the regular season.
Here’s the complete vote from the coaches. I’ll update later with my picks and the overall media vote:
