WNBA names president; Storm adds free agent

Richie.jpgThe WNBA named Laurel J. Richie as its third president, NBA commissioner David Stern released Thursday. A former senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Girl Scouts of the USA, Richie has more than three decades of experience in consumer marketing, corporate branding, public relations and corporate management.
She begins her position May 16, replacing Donna Orender, who resigned in December.
According to a spokesman, Richie will not be made available to media until Tuesday. You can read more here.
As for the Storm, coach Brian Agler signed Bowling Green shooter Lauren Prochaska to a training camp contract. She’s the school’s leading scorer and set a NCAA record for consecutive free throws made.
“It’s a really cool thing,” Prochaska told the Sentinel-Tribune. “I know there are going to be some great players out there, so it will be fun.
“The day of the draft (my agent) texted me and said they (Seattle) wanted me at training camp and asked if I would be willing to go there. I said yes. A couple of hours later their coach, Brian Agler, called me and said he was really excited for me to come up for the camp and filled me in on what was going on.”
