Storm star Lauren Jackson to undergo surgery?

UPDATE: Storm C Lauren Jackson will undergo surgery on Thursday. Read more here.

The White House is loaded with security, but it didn’t stop Storm coach Brian Agler from dropping a loaded verbal attack on the hopes of Storm fans on Wednesday. Prodded by President Obama to speak after being acknowledged for winning the 2010 WNBA championship, Agler stepped to the podium and confirmed that All-Star Lauren Jackson wasn’t with the team.
“She’s going to have surgery tomorrow (Thursday),” Agler said while looking at the president.
Jackson, Finals MVP, posted via Twitter late Tuesday that she was headed to Vail, Co. to see a specialist. Coincidentally, so was NBA C Greg Oden of the Portland Trail Blazers. Jackson is out with a labral tear in her left hip.

But the Storm previously told media that Jackson was scheduled to have three weeks of rest before surgery was discussed. She was at practice before the team departed this week and completed a public service announcement photo shoot, so it didn’t appear the injury had worsened since diagnosed June 23.
Agler’s statement makes it seem as if a change was made. I’m supposed to speak with the team and the coach about their historic trip to the White House. Hopefully more information is available about Jackson, too.
The Storm (4-2) is headed on a three-game road trip against Eastern Conference teams after the White House visit.
