Seattle Storm Announces 2014 Schedule

Home slate features 10 weekend games

SEATTLE – The Storm will tip off its 2014 campaign versus Los Angeles at KeyArena on May 16. The 2014 Seattle Storm schedule, announced by the WNBA on Thursday, features three home games against the Sparks and two trips from both the reigning WNBA Champion Minnesota Lynx and rival Phoenix Mercury.

The 2014 season, which marks Seattle’s 15th season as a WNBA franchise, will feature multiple theme nights and promotions, including a t-shirt for the first 3,000 fans on Opening Night.

The home schedule features 10 weekend games, including Friday, June 6 and Friday, June 27 vs. Maya Moore and the Minnesota Lynx. Seattle travels to Phoenix three times before the Mercury pay a visit to KeyArena on Tuesday, July 22 (ESPN2) and again for Fan Appreciation Night, the last game of the regular season, on Sunday, Aug. 17.

Washington state natives will return to KeyArena throughout the season. Lindsey Moore (Covington, Wash.) returns with the Lynx on June 6 and June 27. Courtney Vandersloot (Kent, Wash.) and the Chicago Sky visit July 5 and Briann January (Spokane, Wash.) stops at KeyArena with the Indiana Fever on July 31.

Seattle opens the season with 10 of the first 13 games on the road. The team will then enjoy long home stretches in July and August.

Seattle’s preseason schedule, promotional schedule and the local broadcasting schedule will be released on a later date.
