Incoming Washington State guard to play for Greek national team

Incoming Cougar Named To U18 Greece National Team

Washington State women’s basketball incoming freshman Pinelopi Pavlopoulou has been selected to play for the Under-18 Greece National Team this summer.

The U18 European Championship will be held July 17-27 in Matosinhos, Portugal. Greece is in Group B and will play Belgium July 17, Lithuania July 18 and Serbia July 19. The top three teams in each of the four groups advance to the next round. Please visit the U18 website for times and results http://u18women.fibaeurope.com/en/default.asp.

Pavlopoulou, out of Athens, Greece, has played for the U16 Greece National Team in 2011 and 2012, posting team-highs of 9.4 ppg, 2.6 apg and 1.9 spg while earning MVP honors of the U16 tournament in 2012. The 5-8 point guard also played for the U18 and U20 teams last summer.

Pavlopoulou will arrive in Pullman in August.
