Washington guard Kelsey Plum named to the 2014-15 “Wade Watch” list

HuskiesLogoTuesday brought another preseason nod for Washington G Kelsey Plum. The sophomore was one of 25 players named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association “Wade Watch” list. Plum is one of five Pac-12 players overall to be given early consideration.

On Monday, Plum was named to the preseason Wooden Award list of 30 candidates.

Regarded as “The Heisman of Women’s Basketball,” the Wade award is given to the top NCAA Division I student-athlete who has the best following criteria: game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability.

Plum is the nation’s leading scorer, averaging 36.7 points in Washington’s opening three games. She leads the Huskies with a 90.2 free-throw percentage – making 37-of-41 attempts.

Washington (2-1) is en route to Mexico to play in the Cancun Challenge. UW opens the three-game trip with a matchup against Florida State (4-0) on Thursday. The Huskies need the possible signature win to help its NCAA tournament hopes. UW hasn’t advanced since 2007, reaching the WNIT quarterfinals last season.
